Memorial Day

We attended the dedication of the U.S. War Memorial at our local park and rec center today. We wanted to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice so many have made to protect the freedoms of ours and others.
After the ceremony, we ate at Freebirds (yummy burritos) and napped. We ended the day with a get-together at Oma and Opa's house. Thanks for the kabobs and fruit salad--delish!Rhys is a splasher!Becky has two beautiful whippets, Tracer, and Tango.Neal freaking them out.Rudy caught this great action sequence.Doesn't Neal know I am weak from chemo? Who feels like the big man now? No, actually, we were having a lot of fun! I love you, babe!

Way Too Much Fun

We've been either too busy, too tired, or both to post lately but this is what's been going on:

Lots of concerts in the park. Neal and Keri love going to the concerts at our nearby park and rec center. The kids run around like crazy and it's good to see friends and take it easy. We also were invited to join Rudy and Becky to see a Beatles tribute band that did a great job.

Carly, our friend, is due in 2 weeks with Clara, their 3rd child. Keri recently attended her baby shower. Because Carly is crafty and already has many baby items from her previous 2, Keri made a diaper cake. It's useful and a cute presentation, and it was fun to make. Neal took Sophie on a Daddy/Daughter Date this past week. They went to a minor league baseball game. Sophie got a pink baseball hat. And she did pretty well trying to pay attention for more than 1/2 a second. Neal knew he was going to have to slow things down a bit when explaining the game, she interrupted with "Let's switch hats, Daddy!"

Finally, Rhys turned 1-year-old! Yep, he made it! We had some friends and family over for a BBQ lunch and cake. Neal was happy to use his new grill and Keri had a blast baking up a storm. She made an M&M barrel cake (3 layers of choco cake and frosting surrounded by kit kats and peanut M&Ms piled on top), ice cream cone cupcakes (cupcakes baked in cones and frosted to look like soft serve wit sprinkles), and a chocolate cake for Rhys to destroy.
Then he got to open a few presents from family and friends. Thank you for the gifts and for the donations made to the local food pantry!
We ended the night with some some Chinese food and this was our 1-year-old son's fortune from his cookie:

Fun with Friends

Keri and the kids went to the mall with Kari, Kenzie, and Kari's mom, Kim. That's a lot of Ks! We spent a good part of the day there. Play area, lunch, merry-go-round, window shopping, and more. Kim, thanks for treating us to lunch and the carousel ride!
