Sophie is 9 months old!

Today was Sophie's 9-month doctor's appointment. She is one healthy, happy kiddo. She weighed in at 20 pounds, 7 ounces and was 30 1/4 inches long! That puts her in the 71st percentile for her weight and the 99th percentile for her length. She barely shed a tear or two when she got her shot and finger stick today.

Bunny Business!

We had a very nice Easter. We took off to Louisiana to visit with extended family. Sophie was able to meet her great-grandma or "Nonnie" and great-grandpa or "Papaw" Cummings. They have a beautiful garden and lots of birds visit. We also enjoyed some excellent southern cooking and were never hungry because everything is so heavy but oh-so-good. We, of course, attended a wonderful Easter service Sunday morning. They opened the service with the primary children (ages 3-12) singing an Easter song. The funny thing was just about each note was off key! But they knew the words! We got home safely on Sunday night. Thanks to all for the thoughtful Easter cards and gifts! We always enjoy them and appreciate them.

St. Patrick Day Glam

For St. Patty's Day, Keri made cards for family members with a picture of our wee leprechaun, Sophie. The picture we used is below.

Our Super Fun Weekend

Yippee! Our fun weekend started out with dropping our darling off at the baby sitter's on Friday night for some exclusive husband/wife time. Our date was cool. We took a driving tour of all of Allen's historical sites which included old downtown buildings, train station, cemetery, and dam. The small dam was constructed in the 1870's to allow for a water stop for the train that passed through this area. Did you know that steam locomotives had to take on water about every 7-10 miles to keep going? Neither did we. We had fun spending time together and learning about our local history. We finished our tour just before sunset and then went and got an ice cream at Cold Stone's. Mmmmm.

On Saturday was spent at the Dallas Arboretum meandering through the spring gardens. We came with our friends the Goode family. We all enjoyed the plethora of bulb flowers. There were many children there with their Easter best on for photos. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a picnic lunch.

There were topiaries of a big cowboy hat, longhorn cattle and a large Texas star, lest we forget we are in Texas! We were lucky enough to see some performers square dance as well. They were dressed in all their Texas flag colors as they promenaded and so forth, lest we forget we are in Texas! It was a more mature group but they sure did get their exercise. We really enjoy walking the grounds and we were in good company.

Sunday morning we attended church meetings as usual. Later, we visited the Goode household again to celebrate their daughter, Ella's, 2nd birthday. We enjoyed catching up with all our friends, but especially the Andersons, as we had not seen them for a while. Carly's homemade strawberry ice cream cake was tops!

After arriving back home we were pleased to have Opa Rudy and Oma Becky over for a visit. Sophie scored with some Easter goodies from them. It was good to catch up with them. Sophie enjoyed dinner with her Oma and finally went down for the night when she was so tired she was crying and laughing and then crying and then laughing all on the same breath. Hope she gets sorted out by the time she wakes tomorrow.

Sophie's First Snow

We were enjoying Family Home Evening with our friends, the Garvins, tonight, when we got the beginnings of a very good snow. We went outside and got a few snapshots. We tasted samples of the white stuff, made a make-shift snowman, and enjoyed the beauty of fresh snow.

Forget Where's Waldo! Where's Sophie?!

Neal was taking care of his duaghter last Saturday when Keri went to a baby shower. He left her on the living room floor with some toys and went into another room briefly. He started to her her start to fuss a bit so he came back out to check on her and could not find her! Where's Sophie? Well, since she doesn't crawl or walk yet, he found that she had managed to skooch herself backwards up against the sofa. There was a blanket left draped over the sofa and she had hid herself there. She wasn't too happy either. But Neal made her wait until he got the camera before he rescued her.
