The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache. --Majorie Pay Hinckley

Better

Keri had a precancerous (NOT cancer) mole removed just short of 2 weeks ago and her oncologist took her off chemo temporarily so she'd have enough white blood cells to fight any infection from this very minor surgery. All she can say is WooooooHoooooo! She actually has energy to do some housework but has put her focus on decluttering her closet and her friend's office and kitchen. It's more fun! There has been some vacuuming and weeding done as well.

Neal has jumped on board with hanging a picture, putting up a tool rack in the garage, changing the air filter and tending the garden.

Keri will probably start chemo in a week or so but until then, did we mention, WooooooHoooooo!

Our Girl

Wow, those mustaches are just "Smurfy!" It's non-toxic sidewalk chalk.
As parents we are often telling Sophie to not swing on the fridge door handles, the treadmill, etc. So she has secretly made a gym to swing on in her closet.

Spring Gardening

Our container garden is largely on its way, thanks to Neal and his little helper, Sophie. We currently have planted: corn, green beans, 2 varieties of blueberry, thyme, basil, onion, blackberries, cilantro, jalapeno, banana pepper, bell pepper, 2 varieties of tomato, cucumber, pumpkin, watermelon, and cantaloupe.
Tonight we planted a pomegranate tree. We'll be planting radishes, carrots, and microgreens in the future.Scat Mohini! This is a garden, not your personal restroom! Yuck!

What's in a Name?

Sophie cracks us up! She usually eats cereal for breakfast and we have had to learn her code.

"Diaper Cheer-Os": This is just regular cheerios but there is a pampers diaper coupon on the box.
"Toucan Cheer-Os": Fruit Loops, yes there is a toucan on the box and they are shaped like cheerios.
"Tigger Cereal": Crispix, there's no tiger on the box or anything that connects to Tigger in our minds.
"Super Hero Cereal": Rice Krispies, sure there's Snap, Crackle, and Pop on the box but they're not really hero material.

Cancer Update

3-month body scans came back clear of cancer. Going on new meds for a thickening of blood in my lungs (meds are to prevent clots). Got shots for low white and red blood cell counts. Good doctor's appointment overall.

Awesome Blossoms

By far the best display of spring flowers, especially tulips, so far this year. Keri thought it was great 2 weeks ago but apparently not everything was fully in bloom.

Hippity-Hoppity, Easter's on its Way

We had our Easter egg hunt today, as we like to reserve Easter Sunday for religious observance. Sophie was still in her pajamas but strapped on her shoes for the hunt. She understood what to do but was slow at getting the eggs. We finally had Dad hold the basket so she could run and get the eggs without the basket hindering her. Rhys kicked back on the patio and played with plastic eggs that Sophie periodically stole the candy from. Sophie was particularly happy with her chocolate Easter bunny.

Dying the Eggs

Nice Threads

This Easter Sunday is the 180th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints so we will be watching the broadcast from Salt Lake on our computer in our pajamas probably. For this reason, we put the kids in their cute Easter clothes last Sunday. Thanks Grandma!

Morning Walk

On our morning walk Sophie observed a dead, dried-up, curled-up worm on the sidewalk. This is what she said about it: "I want to pet him. He's bootiful. He's great." Yes, Sophie, and God looking over him in worm heaven would agree.

Also, Rhys is finally beginning to crawl. Will this motivate me to clean my floors. No. My mom suggested strapping swiffer cloths onto his knees and let him do the work. But I know there's a child labor law somewhere...
