Frolicing in the Flowers

For Easter weekend, we decided to enjoy the good weather and see the bluebonnet booms which are at their prime. Ennis is only about an hour away and we enjoyed walking, being goofy with posing for pictures and being together. It smelled great!  We packed a picnic lunch. We walked fields on public land and then took the driving tour of roads going by private land filled with blossoms. The star is always the bluebonnets but we liked the indian paint brush, primrose, and several others.

One of the coolest things was a large ranch along the bluebonnet trail puts out bags of oats for the bluebonnet lovers to feed their horses and donkeys. I thought that was very kind of them. We had a great time feeding and petting them. We were happy to rinse and sanitize our hands afterward the slobbery fun, though.

Rhys Goes the Distance

Rhys has been working out hard to run on the cross country team this spring. He had his first meet. His goal was to finish and not shoot out too fast at the start. He came in near the end of the pack for his fist meet and was happy with his time. It was fun to cheer him and his other friends on.

At his next meet which happened this week, he was at the end of the pack as well and partnered up with a kid from another middle school. They got lost twice having some distance between them and the rest of the pack and being on an unfamiliar course. They finished though and Sophie and I were happy to cheer for him.

Proud of him for doing hard things and feeling the benefits of physical activity, especially after a year of no PE while he was learning virtually during Covid-19.
