Barn Quilts

We had a real relaxing Saturday at home, with little to no demands.  On Sunday, we decided to get out as a family after church.

I've noticed two of my recent loves melding as I look into homesteading and farms and continue to explore quilting. They're called barn quilts--basically a large painted quilt block displayed on a barn. They've been around for a long time but have had a recent resurgence in this century. In fact, rural communities will post barn quilts throughout town, not just barns, to promote tourism and bring visitors into these communities. Some barn quilts are traditional blocks while others are more unconventional. There are barn quilt trails all over the country and we found that there are 3 trails north of us and we decided to go enjoy one to get out on a very nice day.

One of our early stops was at a Bed & Breakfast with a super sweet dog and a friendly cat.

Starry Night
Not one was on a true barn but we had fun trying to spot them and jumping out of the car to document our sightings.
