Today, Sophie and Keri went to the zoo while Neal was earning hard earned money for our family. They took the train into Dallas with their friends Carly and Kari and each of their kids. We saw a few animals, of course. When Sophie saw the merkats she said "T-hhh" (Not TH as in think but the T and then H sound) which we believe is going to develop into "kitty" someday because that's what she tries to say when our cat is around. Well, at the zoo, even elephants were "T-hhh." Her favorite part by far was at the children's zoo where they have a play area with a very shallow river that the kids can run through and splash. It was her first time sporting a swimsuit and she warmed up to the water pretty fast. We were all beat on the train ride back but it was a great day of fun with friends.

Mothra Visits
That is one huge moth! See how brave Keri was to hold her lip balm up to it for scale? By the way, that lip balm is an excellent product! And see how oblivious Mohini is that he is acting as a reference to scale also? Hello! Huge bug!--Three o'clock! Attack on command! But does he? No. Mothra lives on.

Lesson Learned
So today Keri went to get an oil change at Christian Brothers where, Rudy, her father-in-law works. Sophie loves seeing her Opa. Jim, Rudy's boss, is always friendly and always gives a balloon to Sophie. Well, I got her in the car seat and made sure she had her balloon around her wrist and we took off for home. Upon arriving home and opening the back door, what do I see?!
How pathetic is this?! She managed to get the balloon off her wrist and two inches of its ribbon in her mouth and dozed off to sleep. Next time Mommy is going to keep the balloon in the front of the car and give it back when Sophie is supervised.

Her First Shiner!
Okay, so it's not like she got in a bar fight but ouch! It's that small bruise under her right eye. Two nice gals from church came over to visit for a short while and they each brought their two youngest kiddos. Well, a sweet, 15-month-old girl was trying to hand Sophie a tambourine by waving it closer and closer to her. Well, Sophie didn't pick up on her cues fast enough and one of the metal cymbals smacked her in the face breaking a few capillaries and bringing a flood of tears. I actually saw it happen and know the little girl really did mean well. But just look at my baby girl! It took a lot to hold back my inner mama bear!

A Day with Pals
What a day! Carly and Keri took off to the Arboretum and enjoyed some great weather and beautiful blooms. We had a picnic and were nearly attacked by a brave squirrel, TWICE! He was only a few feet away and Keri stood up, waved her arms, yelled at it, and swung a bag at it (not hitting it, of course) and it stood it's ground and even moved forward at times. Freaked us out! Made us laugh anyway! We did win the battle and finished our lunches. After visiting the Arboretum, we stopped by Opa's (grandpa) work to say hi. Sophie was treated with a big, red balloon and loved it! When Neal got home we took off to a Chipotle grand opening and got free burritos! We only had to stand in line for an hour. It was worth it though because we got to catch up with each other and were surrounded by nice, hungry people.

Angels vs Rangers
Thanks to our friends the Goodes, we enjoyed an evening at the Rangers Ballpark. We, of course, cheered for the Angles because of our CA roots. They won 7 to 4. We could see the construction on the new Cowboys stadium from the ballpark.

Biker Chick
We enjoyed an evening with our friends Toni and Romar and thier kids (all 6) this weekend. Romar has a motorcycle and was kind enough to take Keri for a spin arournd the neighborhood. It was so fun! And even though he never went over 45 mph, Keri squealed with excitement (okay, and fear) probably 2 or 3 times.

So Many Talents
Okay, Keri was trying to get Sophie to make 'pops' and, apparently, it causes gas! Who knew?!
And later she demonstrated her ability to do raspberries...FOREVER. Well for about a minute and a half, when Keri grew bored. Remember, this is a minute and a half of your life you will never get back.

Peek-a-boo?
What appears as a fun game of peek-a-boo is actually our adorable daughter teething on our leather sofa.
